How to get 1 Million Twitter Followers

OR Integrated Marketing Explained via Charlie Sheen

STEP 1: Develop the message, and package it with key words, taglines or a catch phrase to make the message easier for an audience to grasp.

STEP 2: Begin with some traditional PR, staging a publicity stunt or event that could draw viral appeal and gather initial attention.

STEP 3: After engaging a small audience, carrying the message or product through traditional mediums of radio, print or tv, can offer a wider and farther reach.

STEP 4: With a larger audience attuned to your message. Social Media will help provide platforms for keeping your audience informed with regular updates about your brand.

STEP 5: Organic [often exponential] growth should result from consistently supplying your audience with new and interesting, authentic content with emotional appeal.

STEP 6: To measure your results, develop metrics by either quantifying numbers or evaluating earned media.

STEP 7: Next, reevaluate and proceed.

Pages Upgrade has Business Appeal

It should come as no surprise after the introduction of Places Pages and the redesign of Profiles that followed, Pages for Business would see their turn.

But this isn't just a simple redesign and layout change. Look closely, as there are some fundamental changes in the way Pages will do business. This is the second big effort we've seen at capturing business communities since Groups got its upgrade several months ago.

Particular big features added to the Pages toolbox are evidence Fb is ever attempting to break the barrier for the remaining businesses not yet adopting a Page into their integrated marketing efforts, and others keeping it on internet "Block" lists at work.

A general look at upgraded features include:
  •  Showcase of Latest Photos
  •  Tabs transitioned to Left-side Navigation Bar
  •  Featured Wall Posts
  •  Feature Admins
  •  Feature Favorite Pages
  •  Interact with other Pages
  •  Receive Notifications for Page

It's the final two features that will really hit for a big win in the business community. It comes down to separation of business and pleasure, and data capture.

Allowing Pages to interact with each other expands reach and awareness – a big win in itself. But it's the mechanics behind this functionality which will have some employers uber-stoked, placing a physical barrier between personal profiles and business page profiles.

By using Facebook as a Page, you're transitioned from your personal profile to the identity of the Business Page. This does several things. You may Like and comment on other Pages. The Page's homepage has a news feed of updates from the brand's Favorite Pages and connections. And notifications become those of the Page.

Meaning, no distractions.

From new comments on your profile picture. From friends who change their relationship status. Even pesky chat windows popping up in the bottom right corner of the window.

Diverging Facebook

UPDATE: Facebook began rollout of Messages to all users.  - 2/11/11

Messages just got an upgrade

Think Google Voice for your email. Ironic?

If you ask Mark Zuckerberg, it came as a stroke of genius after talking to some teenage friends of his girlfriend's younger sister. It turns out Millennials don't use email to connect with friends, they use Facebook Chat when their online or text messages when their off. Of course, with smartphones you can simply snag an app to be logged on to Chat 24/7, so even those lines are getting blurred. But Zuckerberg saw this as an opportunity.

Facebook will now outfit you with your very own email address where you can receive a message (including Fb messages) in any format or through any device, you choose.

The big idea, though, comes from the new sixth sense addition to your inbox. Using Facebook integration, your connections' messages receive priority over the rest of your email. A huge advantage over most of our inboxes and their respective spam filters.
