Diverging Facebook

UPDATE: Facebook began rollout of Messages to all users.  - 2/11/11

Messages just got an upgrade

Think Google Voice for your email. Ironic?

If you ask Mark Zuckerberg, it came as a stroke of genius after talking to some teenage friends of his girlfriend's younger sister. It turns out Millennials don't use email to connect with friends, they use Facebook Chat when their online or text messages when their off. Of course, with smartphones you can simply snag an app to be logged on to Chat 24/7, so even those lines are getting blurred. But Zuckerberg saw this as an opportunity.

Facebook will now outfit you with your very own email address where you can receive a message (including Fb messages) in any format or through any device, you choose.

The big idea, though, comes from the new sixth sense addition to your inbox. Using Facebook integration, your connections' messages receive priority over the rest of your email. A huge advantage over most of our inboxes and their respective spam filters.
